Aloha Movers moved our household from Hawaii to San Diego. When the shipment arrived much of our property was missing or as I like to call it stolen. As well the packing was horrible and we had too much too list broken. please feel free to email us and I will glady provide photos. One of the problems we had with them was a motorcycle that they shipped. When it left it was sealed into a security crate we signed with the promise that the crate would not be opened until it arrived at our new home. The bike arrived dissesmbled and in a smaller crate with parts missing and broken. Our grandmothers china and over $5000 of other household goods are missing or broken. This company informed us today that they spoke to the people that packed our home and they remember packing the china and that it was shipped, however it did not arrive here, along with many many other things. I would not ship with them again and will be filing to have them held accountable which will not give me back the china but might help others to not use them. They are thieves and liars as far as I am concerned.

Xpress Movers

Xpress movers showed up late, brought a smaller truck than we asked and agreed upon thus resulting in an extra trip, but the worse part was careless handling of our antique furniture, when we had talked they told us that they bring stuff to wrap delicate stuff in but none was brought (in talking to friends most moving companies wrapped even their non valuable furniture items). We repeatedly mentioned that our couch was valuable and antique and to be careful with it, they had nothing to protect it with and by the time they took it down the set of stairs in haste and careless manner they had smashed it against the wall and broken a leg off, they did not tell us about it, we just happened to be looking outside the window and saw them talking to each other about it and it was not until we got to our place that we realized what it was about. When the couch was brought in they put it in and were not planning to tell us or give us the broken piece. We noticed the broken leg and showed them, they brought the broken piece from the truck and told us that we should file a claim form that we need to get from the company. Later we noticed they had also chipped off another antique furniture item's legs. One of the guys named Steve was seen throwing our poof chair carelessly and knocking a table and stuff on it down, he seemed to be also the person who broke the couch, he was rude, hasty and careless. Afterwards we called, emailed for the claim forum and they never returned our phone calls. We don't know if they are truly insured or just lying about it. We got the estimates for our furniture fixing and they are all over 1000 dollars. Also, they told us that they will charge us 25 dollars each way travel and then changed it to one hour worth of travelling time at the rate of moving.

ABESTCHOICEMOVERS.COM

On January 31, 2008 I was moved by this company. Two weeks prior I spoke and finalized the contract with the sales man named Brandon. I found this company on movers.com, and many companies called me with quotes, I chose this company because Brandon gave me the best price. 3 men, 1 truck, 3 hours minimum @ $74 an hour and I was supposed to pay for the bubble wrap they would use on my glass dining room table that would have been the only added expense and they would unassemble and reassemble at the new place. Until the mover arrived at my apt. on Jan 31, and hit me with all kinds of hidden fees. Just to move my TV they wanted $125 I called Brandon my contact and after a very heated argument, he told me they would only charge me for the bubble wrap that they would use on the tv. To make a long story short, I had to call Brandon back three times beforee they actually started the move, 45 minutes later.

The movers took 5 hours and I had no problems with that, until 1/2 hour before they were finished, and my husband who does not speak much english was given the bill.. what should have been a $400 max.. bill turned out to bee $607.00 he had no choice but to pay them or they would not continue to reassemble the furniture. They then told my husband that they were going downstairs to the truck to get a screwdriver and when he realized the truck was speeding away, leaving us with the reassembling of many articles. They also charged, for 25 rolls of tape that they claim they used, I was there at the old apt. and saw the material they used, they brought up a package of 8 rolls and left 2 1/2 rolls behind on the floor of my apt. They also damaged my bed wood rail, broke a piece of wood off of it.

I just want this company to reimburse me for all the added hidden costs and . It was a nightmare. They don't tell you or come to an agreement over the phone and then the day of the move that's when they get you, knowing that you have no other choice but to go along with whatever fees they hit you with because it's too late to hire another mover. That is the way this company operate. MOVING IS STRESSFUL ENOUGH WITHOUT HAVING THE STRESS OF BEING TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF.

E-z Movers lo-balled me on the estimate, and then when they came to make the move they said it would be up to $1000 more for packing materials. They said they need wrap everything with shrink wrap to protect it, pictures, chairs, tables, mirrors, etc. I told them to wrap them in blankets, but they refused. I called the company and cancelled at that time. They would not return any portion of my $675 deposit. The movers helpers told me they do the same thing to everyone. Most people end up paying because they have to be out on that day. I was able to find another mover who did the job for less money, no extra charges, and did an excellent job. E-Z movers are not movers, but con artists.

I made the mistake of using them to move one bedroom worth of stuff last summer. They were supposed to show up on Sat from 9-11am. Each time I called they said they would be there at 11, then 1 then 3 then 5. Finally I called at 4:30 and said when would they be there and they said sometime between 5-6, and b/c of the inconvenience they would take $100 off and send a 3rd mover to help. Nevermind that I had to get someone to watch my 1 year old son at the time. Well at 5:30 I get a call saying the movers went home and won't be moving me. I was so upset. They said they would come first thing Sunday morning. They come on Sunday (only 2 movers not 3) and were SO slow moving everything. Hubby and I were the ones sweating moving most of the stuff in the truck. They literally took one box and walked it to the truck (instead of stacking it on their dolly). It took them over 3 1/2 hours to move one bedroom of stuff. When they unloaded my one dresser, I caught them upstairs just sitting on the stairs. They were in the house for 20 minutes when I went to check on them (hubby and I were busy unloading all the boxes from the truck). Also, when it came to pay they were charging me for all these ridiculous charges that they never told me about when I booked them. I asked to speak to their supervisor on the phone. The driver said to just not pay and I can talk to the supervisor later. Well they don't call me till NINE months later (today) to say I have an outstanding bill of $289. They said if I don't pay they will send it to collections. I told them what happened, and they said I still need to pay it since they did do the move. Also, she made a snarky comment 'how do you think people would feel if they see you don't pay for services provided'. ugh!!! these people are scams!!! please be warned not to ever use them!!! I have NEVER had a bad move like this and i've moved plenty of times within the minimum 2 hours required.

My complaint is three fold: 1: We were given a binding estimate and the price was binded on the estimate. Well our moving truck showed that the estimate was over so they are trying to charge us more. I told them about these and they told me there was nothing they could do. 2: The driver told us they would be there on 4-24 between 8-12 AM, they did not show until 8:30 PM. We then had to get a hotel to stay in because of the time they got to our residence. I asked about that, they said they got there between the 24 & 25 so they can't do anything. I told her I did not want them at my house they late (they where there til 11 pm) she said oh well. 3: We called customer service to try to resolve our issues, I know I was upset at the time, but they lady refused to give me her name and left me on hold for 15 mintues. I had to use another phone to call the company to find out her name and why I was still on hold. I spoke with 2 customer service reps and a supervisor and none will give us any explaination to why we are being over charged and why they movers came 12 hours late. I want justice in my contact they states the estimate is binding and justice in the fact the movers where 12 hours late.

In March 2008 I hired Wade Odell, a United Van Lines agent in Midland Park, NJ, to move me from Lyndhurst NJ to Denver CO. I interviewed 4 movers and specifically choose Wade Odell due to their affiliation with United Van Lines. The movers arrived a day and a half days late. They did not call, I had to call them several times. The truck that arrived was a Mayflower truck, not a United truck (I specifically hired United not Mayflower). I was not informed Mayflower would be transporting my belongings and would not have agreed to it. As my belongings were unloaded, I noticed the boxes were extremely dirty, damaged, crushed, upside down or ripped open, some of my furniture was not wrapped and was dirty, and my television was completely broken. There were a total of 18 broken and 7 missing items (some of which are not replaceable, they were wedding gifts or bought on vacation). I immediately contacted Wade Odell and left several messages. They did not return my calls for 3 weeks and when they did they were extremely rude. I finally received a one page claim form for 10 items, sent it in and have not been contacted by Wade Odell. Wade Odell did a bait and switch by sub contracting my move to another carrier without my consent, they transferred my belongings on multiple trucks and have provided no customer service. Do not use United Van Lines or Wade Odell for your next move.

Blacklisting ’’United Movers and Packers’’

Relocating from Bangalore to Pune
By: jayantkataria

Pros:
He gave me a rate that was 1.5k less than Aggarwal Movers and Packers
Cons:
People that come for packing are substandard and dont know ABCD of packing

Blacklisting ’’United Movers and Packers’’

I used United movers and Packers for moving my house & suffered theft of valuables of about 2500/- that is known. Items not visible
and forgotten cannot be accounted for :)

Majority of the theft happened at the time of packing but was realized very late to be able to bo any corrective measure.
7-8 people turned up for packing a 2 BHK house which was totally unwarranted but was because it works out to their advantage
as simultaneous packing by 7 people cannot be supervised by 1 or 2 members of the household and they take advantage of the induced situation.
Realization of brand new unpacked pocket watch theft when reported to Mr. Imtiyaz (Owner of the United Movers and Packers who never showed up at the time of packing) went unheeded with hollow denials and no action was taken.
Later it dawned that the workers get paid only Rs. 100 for a day no matter how many houses they pack in a single day obviously with a free hand to flick things while packing to supplement their day’s wage.

Request you to pass on the name of the blacklisted company to spread awareness and force them to mend their ways of doing business.

There are too many unreliable players in the market and hence go for a reputed one. I was first time lucky that the first one I used Agarwal Packers proved to be very good that I used them again twice more and it got only better each time.

However they are expensive so one is tempted to look elsewhere. We did check out other options when we shifted the second time - from Hyderabad to Trivandrum-since the initial quote from Agarwal was a little high. But I was far from happy at the professionalism of the other company reps who came to give a quote and in the end Agarwal reduced their prices a little (they do negotiate ) and it turned out to be a good decison. The good reached Trivandrum in less than 3 days from Hyderabad.

I hired American Moving Services for my move - big mistake. They told me that the pickup of my stuff would be either June 12 or June 13. I told them it was very important, and that if those dates couldn't be met, I would have to make other arrangements. They told me the pickup would be on one of those two days.

When June 13 came, they called to say they would not be doing the pickup that day. They said that one truck had a mechanical problem, so they would have to delay the move AT LEAST 7 or 8 DAYS. They could not even guarantee that the pickup would be that soon.

I told them that we could not wait that long, and that we would have to make other moving arrangements.

Their manager told me that if I did not wait for them to complete the move, they would say that I "cancelled" the move, and I would forfeit my deposit.

I had paid a deposit of almost $1,000 for the move. They told me that I had two choices: (1) wait for them until they were able to do the move, which could be weeks, or (2) give up my entire deposit.

I made other arrangements for my move. I have been trying for almost a month to get the deposit back, but they refuse to give any of it back.

They did not honor the pickup dates we agreed upon, and now believe they are entitled to keep my deposit.

my husband and i moved a one bedroom apt ten miles to a new apt and we had to pay over $600. one of the movers was sexually aggressive to myself, mother in law, and sister in law. he purposely damaged lots of our stuff. they had many hidden charges that they brought up at the end. the head guy scott was so slow and rude and he even took off his shirt and opened some of our boxes and rifled thru our stuff. the guy even ran the truck into an overhang and put a huge hole in the truck while at our old apt. he was rude, sarcastic, and inappropriate. we have had a horrible time trying to make a claim for the damage done to our stuff. i was shocked when my family had to do most of the work. the two movers got into a confrontation and scott was cursing and yelling. i will say it was a terrible experience and there were many more things that happened that will take too much time to type but i would never recommend this company to anyone.

This moving company is a rip-off. I should have done my homework before hiring them - they charge $115 an hour for three men and a van. I got two and a half men, at best, for a move that took almost 8 hours from Meriden, CT, to Wallingford, CT (5 miles). There was no huge furniture except for a sleeper love seat and a recliner. The bulk of the move was boxes and bins - no dining room set, no bedroom furniture. The movers broke my computer table and the company would not replace it. I settled for their furniture repairman coming to my home to repair the keyboard tray and a leg of the table. I don't want to revisit this move anymore so my advice is to hire Mike's Delivery & Moving Service out of North Haven. I had a headboard delivered by them - and guess who delivered it? Mike himself! They charge $85/hour for a move and are efficient and pleasant. Father & Son's ad says "a family man on every van" - they don't mean one of their family members - they mean any human being because we all have families! Call Mike!!!!!!!!!!!!

Complaint Description:

Sept 16, 2007, A-1 Apt. Movers said they would be out at my home at 10:00 am to move my furniture. I had made the appointment the day before, in which they gave me confirmation #863005. I waited and waited and finally at 2:30 pm, I called them. They said they were on their way and that they would be there between 4 and 4:30pm. At 5:30pm, I called them and they said they would be there around 8:00pm; that they would get my furniture moved for sure that day. They never showed and never called me. The next day I spoke with a supervisor "Jones". I told him I would be filing a complaint with the BBB and that my best friend, daughter is the producer of the Channel 8 news; I would be calling her to give her a copy of this complaint also. The news will do short stories on companies that are cheating or doing a dis-service to consumers. The supervisor's response was, "and we have the right to respond to any complaints that is made against our company". When I told him that I had tape recorded our conversation, he got scared and mad and yelled, "you canâ??t do that" My response was, "yes I can, check the Texas law on this." He had admitted that the company was in the wrong, during the conversation. He yelled and then hung up on me. I wanted to make sure that the BBB had a formal complaint against A-1 Apt. Movers. The public needs to know, not to use them with their moving needs. They need to hire a reputable service other than this company that has taken out a large ad in the yellow pages. They are soliciting by saying they are insured. The company may be insured but the people handling your furniture ARE NOT INSURED because they are contract labor. A-1 Apt Movers never claimed that their contract labor movers MUST SUPPLY THEM WITH AN INSURANCE POLICY, that is covering the move or your furniture. This is false advertisement in which it needs to be reported and on record also. Please mail me a confirmation that you received this complaint letter. Please let me know what I need to do to continue to keep this complaint current with the BBB. I will be forwarding a copy of this letter to my friend that is the producer of the news. Thank You, Mrs. Skrasek 817-891-8458I

Your Desired Resolution:

I believe since the company has admitted that they were at fault that they should supply a moving team, at their expense to move my furniture. The moving company should have to supply the consumer with a written insurance policy that guarantees the move to be safe, without damage and during DAY LIGHT hours. (what reputable company would offer to move your furniture during the night; and on top of that, it being a school night. This company obviously has some unethical practices they are allowing.

This case will be reviewed by a complaint specialist at the Better Business Bureau, and then forwarded to the business for their response. It is our policy to allow the business 30 working days to respond to your complaint. You will be notified when the business has responded.

Complaint: Budget Van Lines & Golden Hands Movers

Complaint re: Budget Van Lines & Golden Hands Movers

Complaint re: Budget Van Lines & Golden Hands Movers

Good afternoon,

I'd like to submit a complaint regarding Budget Van Lines of New York and Golden Hands Movers of Maryland. I hired Budget to move my property from Virginia to Texas. Apparently, Budget is merely a broker and not an actual carrier, though I was not informed of that until a couple days before my move, when I discovered that Golden Hands Movers would actually be moving my items. After many problems getting anyone on the phone, I eventually discovered my pick-up date and was told that I could obtain supplemental insurance when the movers arrived with my paperwork. This turned out to be false and Golden Hands refused to sell me supplemental insurance. Unfortunately, by that time, I could not make alternative arrangements for the move and had to go forward.

The move has turned out to be a total nightmare. Golden Hands failed to deliver many items - four boxes, my tool box and tools, and my mattress and box spring. What was delivered has extensive damage: boxes were crushed and gouged - some even arrived ripped open - all of my furniture has damage, bookcases were crushed beyond repair, and my washer/dryer unit was destroyed. The delivery driver was frighteningly inept. First, even though he arrived without notice in an unmarked truck that was different from the truck my items were loaded onto, he would not even show me that my property was on-board before I handed him $1000 in cash. As soon as I paid, he mentioned that there were "a lot of problems" with my move, and that was an understatement. As the unloading went on, it became apparent that the driver had some problems of his own. He spent much of the day on the phone and eventually mentioned that he had to "get on a plane" because his brother has a gambling problem and if the brother's bookie was not paid $2000, "someone was going to get killed." By that point, the driver discovered that my mattresses had been delivered to another customer. He stated that he didn't really want to have to go get them, and offered my $100 for them, which I refused. He left shortly thereafter to get them (or to take care of the gambling thing... who knows?) and I never saw him again. He now claims that I refused to accept redelivery of the mattresses, which Golden Hands seems to think absolves it of any liability for my missing and damaged goods. Golden Hands also seems to think that it is not in the wrong because I refused to sign the inventory form and the driver said "everything was delivered." The driver refused to do an inventory before leaving, telling me that he was not required to do so; not surprisingly, I refused to sign and my subsequent inventory uncovered the other missing items.

The only thing that has been worse than dealing with Golden Hands has been dealing with its "claims department," which is actually a separate business with a history of problems with consumers - the Better Business Bureau lists approximately 30 complaints against them this year alone. My conversations with them have been fraught with hostility and the "claims adjustors" have told outright lies regarding their obligations to settle my claim (I confirmed this via a conversation with a representative of the American Moving and Storage Association, of which Golden Hands and the claims department are members). I expect to have to litigate this matter.

I am happy to talk to anyone who is considering using Golden Hands or Budget to tell them more about my experience. Please add my information to your database and let me know if you require any additional information.

Thank you,

Shannon Lang

Horrible Experience from Fasttran Movers

Horrible Experience from Fasttran Movers

Horrible Experience from Fasttran Movers

Dishonest and arrogrant service I had experienced ever.

This happened for me for a local move with this company (Fasttran Moving CA PUC# :T-189665 / ICC MC# :511436 / DOT:1379075 )

San Jose: 408-433-3388

Beware of using these people of moving. It will not be a honest or trustworthy service.

I called these people on Sunday and made an appointment on Wednesday 2pm to pickup some furnitures from a shop and deliver to my home(75$/hr).

On Tuesday evening they called me and to make sure we are moving the stuff on Wednesday itself. On Wednesay at 1 pm, I called them from office and asked whether they will make it by 2pm so that I could leave office and wait for them at the store. It will take me nearly 45mins to reach the shop from office. They said they are on the way and will be there at 2pm.

I came at store nearly 1:35 pm , they didnot show up even after 2pm. So I called them arround 2:30 pm to check where they are. The person who took the phone said, "they are on the way and will be in 10 mins". As per that instruction, the store person started wrapping and covering the stuffs which I was taking.I then waited for more than 1 hr(3:30pm). No-one showed up.I called them two more times in that one hr and got the same answer.

" They are on the way and will be there in any minute". I kept waiting

Arround 3:45pm, I called them again and asked to give me the truck driver's phone number so I can make sure where and how long he might take to reach the store.. Suddenly the person is saying , "Oh the driver is busy working now. He could reach the store only after 4:30 pm!. or may be the first job on Thursday morning..". I was completely out of voice .

I was waiting for these people nearly 2.5 hrs in that store. I had called them before I left the office also to make sure they will be there, they didnot mention any delay and all these time they are saying "they are on the way". I had nothing else to do , wasting my valuable time waiting for these dishonest and arrogant people. I no more trust them. The next sec I told him, I donot need their service any more!!!!.. Thanks a lot for wasting my time!!.

Hope nobody need a similar experience with these movers.

STARVING STUDENTS MOVING

LOS ANGELES CALIFORNIA

I have just discovered I have been another Starving Student victim. I

wish I had looked at this site before using them. I have been in contact with

management (Robert Barns and Darrin Dougan). My complaints include over

billing, failure to perform, damage to property, failure to resolve disputes,

code violations and deceptive practices. Intentional and negligent delays to

increase billing, Bait and switch contracts at start of move. Charging more than

the estimate. They also walked out with a box of my personal property and

would not me look at it. they said it was theirs.

On or about 2-20-07 Starving Students perform a move leading to this

complaint. The problems are too numerous to mention here. I see they have had 234

complaints with the Better Business Bureau. The Better Business Burea gave them

an "F" rating " the worst possible rating" and they warn the public about

using them. They also have numerous complaints at complaints.com.

I have correspondence detailing all of the issues. First I was given an

estimate of $2,100.00 for 4 rooms. They ended up billing me $3,900.00. The lead

mover stated he knows how to increase billing and should get a raise. He kept

telling the movers to slow down the move to increase hours. They did this to

make more movers necessary an I had to pay additional charges for the 2nd

truck to get them to the site. One mover was in the bathroom doing drugs and

left his drug paraphernalia there. After over 8 hours on 2 rooms were complete

forcing us to abandon 2 rooms of property. Next the movers pointed out

damage they caused to some of my property. We were also billed more hours than

actual. The movers said they had turned on their gps so we may get over billed.

The company has not been cooperative.

Resolution Sought: Management said the hours and billing would be adjusted

and the property loss would be resolved promptly(this is a common problem

with their movers). 5 months has gone by and the claim is still not resolved. I

respectfully request the billing and hours be adjusted and the personal

property loss be adjusted promptly. They charged $149.00 for property loss

insurance at actual value and said if they pay for the damage they only want to pay

the per pound weight. They declined mediation.

Agarwal Packers and Movers

Agarwal Packers and Movers

Agarwal Packers and Movers

We used Agarwal Packers and Movers to move household goods (Part Load) from Bangalore to Pune on June 25th, 2007. Our consignment number was 3360. Due to some confusion while unloading, one box containing bed linen, one bookshelf and one skateboard were not unloaded and the truck continued on to Mumbai to deliver someone else's goods. When we realised the loss two days later, we contacted the company. We wanted them to find out if our goods had by mistake been delivered to the Mumbai address. If not, they should still be in thr truck and therefore traceable. The company was most un-cooperative, making lame excuses and telling us repeatedly that were to blame, etc. After a few tries we gave up, being busy unpacking and settling down in a new place.Admitted that the mistake was ours, but there should be some honesty on the part of the company staff who demand big tips, etc. and then cheat customers.

Complaint: Dane County Movers (Madison, WI) USA

Dane County Movers (Madison, WI)

Dane County Movers (Madison, WI)

Sometime in the beginning of May, I contacted Dane County Movers in

Madison, Wisconsin and scheduled a move for Saturday, June 2. I was

told that two employees would arrive at my home on that day between

10:00 and 10:30 am and was given confirmation number C2174127.

On the morning of June 2, the day of the scheduled appointment, no one

showed at my apartment at the aforementioned time. After waiting an

additional thirty minutes, I called the office at 11:00 am and left a

voicemail message relaying the situation. At noon, a full 90 minutes

after the original arrival time and 60 minutes after leaving a

voicemail, I again phoned the office. On this occasion, a gentleman

answered and I explained my situation. He asked for my confirmation

number, which I didn't have at the time (I had inadvertently packed

the information). He then searched with my name and address and

informed me that I was nowhere in his system. I reiterated the fact

that I had made an appointment some weeks ago and that I needed the

service today. He told me that "there was nothing [he] 'could' do" on

that day or the next (Sunday) and that the earliest he could schedule

a move was Monday, June 4. After bantering back and forth, with my

repeating my request for services and his repeating that he "couldn't"

do anything, I finally asked to speak to a manager. At this point, he

informed me that he was a co-partner (Paul?). Incredulous that a

business owner would be so cavalier about such a mistake on the

company's behalf and his unwillingness to rectify the situation, I

asked if he had no intent of accommodating me. He again stated that

he would not move me until Monday. Due to the company's carelessness

or negligence, I asked that I be given a discount when services were

completed, to which he stated, "I NEVER cut my prices. If you're not

going to pay 100%, then I'm canceling your [Monday] appointment right

now."

After finding my confirmation number later in the day, I again called

the business and gave this information. This same gentleman indicated

that my confirmation number was in the "correct format" but was

nowhere in this system. I asked how it was possible to have received

a confirmation number but to not be in the system, to which he could

offer no explanation. I again requested that he send movers that day

or the next. Once again, he refused. At that point, I ended the

conversation. To say that I was shocked is an understatement. I have

never encountered a business owner so blas=E9 over such an egregious

mistake and so unwilling to make accommodations. Fortunately, I was

able to contract another company to complete the move that day. While

it cost me more money, it was certainly worth it. The people were

courteous and professional...

I provided this information as a simple caveat. As the co-partner

himself declared, "We have the cheapest rates in town." Another

example that cheapest is rarely, if ever, best.

Michael,

I received your messages yesterday (Sunday). There's not much more I can add to what I've already posted. Obviously, the company had put me into a bind due to their unprofessional (and what I view as unethical) behavior with regard to my situation. However, I was able to find a different moving company that very day: Those movers were exceptionally professional and now have a customer for life.

Complaint: Imperial Movers (relocation service)

Imperial Movers (relocation service)

Imperial Movers (relocation service)

The General Manager, Anthony Smith, gave us a quote to move our furniture

from our previous home and our storage unit to our new home. During the

quote he confirmed they do accept credit cards and that we will also be in

need of two (2) trucks for such a large quantity of furniture; however, he

was only going to charge me for one (1) and needed to reflect that on the

estimate. On 5/2/07, Imperial Movers arrived late and with only one truck.

We had to wait for another truck to arrive before they began.

During the move, weights were dropped on (and dented) our hardwood floor. A

plant vase was put outside on the porch where it fell off. Our front door

was broken (we noticed that the next day) which flew open and broke our

brand new porch light. In addition, the supervisor began hitting on a

neighbor and all movers used unacceptable foul language and hinting about

tips.

Upon arriving to our new home, we were asked to make the payment before

removing items from the truck. We originally refused but we told they

couldn’t remove our furniture unless payment was received. It was

procedure. We filled out the credit card information on the invoice where

we noticed there where the total hours was filled in even though the move

wasn't completed. When asked they stated that was the procedure but they

refused to give us a copy until the job was completed. Apparently, this was

also for the customer’s benefit so that they are aware of the approximate

costs.

Immediately after, Imperial Movers supervisor called either Anthony Smith

give them our credit card information. At that time, we were informed that

the credit card machine wasn't working so he asked for cash or a check

before they were going to bring in our furniture. Can you say “extortion”?

We refused so the movers sat in the truck half an hour awaiting permission

from Anthony Smith to move in our belongings. Miraculously, the credit card

machine started working again and they finally begin to move in our

furniture.

During the SLOW move in, our heater and other misc items fell from the truck

when opening the door. Then the movers dropped onto the pavement and

damaged the top of our dining room table. We repeatedly contacted the

general manager, Anthony Smith, to report the problems we were having. They

banged holes in the wall of our brand new home. And they broke a piece of

wood off of a step. Anthony Smith offered to have the items from our

storage unit picked up at no additional cost and have his insurance agent

access the damages to our home and possessions in the morning (never

showed).

Of course, the supervisor was then instructed to create another invoice for

picking up the storage despite the fact Anthony offered to have it done free

of charge. To end the ordeal and have them leave our home, my husband

signed the invoice and finally received copies of the invoices. We

immediately reviewed both invoices and realized that on the first invoice we

were not only were we billed for the time they stood around waiting for an

additional truck, their lunch, and permission to move in our possessions,

there were additional fees added on after receiving the credit card

authorization signature!! My husband immediately disputed the additional

charges and was essentially told the form has been signed and there is

nothing he can do about it. So on top of everything, we now have to dispute

these charges obtained, in our opinion, fraudulently. Is it legal to force

someone to sign a supposed estimate before completing the service than

changing the cost? Their own estimate has a notice that states: “Actual

charges may NOT be determined prior to completion of services” but when they

arrive at your home with everything you on the back of their trucks, it’s a

different story.

Several days later another representative arrived to fix some of the items

left unfinished (they didn’t put together the beds and sofa and left pieces

of it lying around) and to take our lacquer dining table to be repaired.

Our experience has been frustrating and infuriating. When trying to resolve

the matter with Mr. Smith either doesn’t answer or return our calls,

promises something and doesn’t deliver, or is RUDE and UNPROFESSIONAL and

yells at US because we had the audacity to ask for our (damaged) table back!

Our calls to Mrs. Rhonda Smith, the owner and Anthony Smith’s wife, go

unanswered and unreturned. The one time we spoke with her, she apologized,

said she looked into the matter and never returned the call.

As of today 5/22/07, three weeks later, we received the damaged pieces to

our table. And the mover putting it together dropped ANOTHER piece and

broke the leg off of our table. So now we no longer have a dining room

table. Imperial Movers is still unresponsive.

COMPLAINTS ABOUT MOVERS IN GENERAL

COMPLAINTS ABOUT MOVERS IN GENERAL

COMPLAINTS ABOUT MOVERS IN GENERAL

My complaint is not about any particular company in the moving industry, but more about the types of complaints made against moving companys by customers.

I am a 45 yr. old man who has been in the moving industry since 1988, and have actively been moving on a long-haul basis for the past 13 yrs. I DO KNOW OF WHAT I SPEAK !!!!!

TO THE CUSTOMERS :

first aguments usually brought to surface is:

"your cost of the move does not match my estimate"

1st and for-most, this is a lame argument to begin with. An ESTIMATE is just that...and educated guess as to how long it will take to put your items into a truck and transport it to your new location and unload it, PLUS 1 HR. TRAVEL-TIME...1hr travel-time is the time it takes(or portion of) to get FROM the office to your PICK-UP location and FROM your drop-off loaction to the next job's PICK-UP location(or back to the office, if it's the only job for that truck that day) and is a nominal fee of more than 80% of moving companies WOLRD WIDE. These estimates....ASSUME that the customer's have dismantled anything that requires doing so, to enable safe packing into a truck...eg. dismantling a bed, removing mattresses and boxsprings, removing/undoing head-boards/footboards, dismantling metal bed-frames....or in the case of buffet/hutches....removal of of loose sheets of glass, proper paging of glass....and the list goes on. there are many things that customers neglect to do themselves and are over-whelmed when a job estimated to take 4 hrs. may in fact run 6 or 7 hrs. KEEP IN MIND.... although the time for doing these things, (taking the time to properly prepare items {using moving pads to protect wood, glass, metal objects} and properly securing them within the confines of the truck in order to facilitate safe transportation of your property, are done as a curtisy to customers, but will no-doughbtly add to the time it takes to complete your move. The most common complaints stem from the lack of knowledge to TERMS OF AGREEMENT (contracts) that almost every customer is usually required to sign before work will commence, indicating a start time, hourly rate/or flat-rate quoted, size of truck, no. of men and whether or not travel-time will be included as part of the bill.

thenyou want to throw in the the rest of the terms, which are usually printed on the reverse side of the contract, explaining liability, insurance coverage, items not insured(usually quite lengthy), terms of payment( and some contracts stipulate payment required PRIOR TO UNLOADING).

PEOPLE, PEOPLE, PEOPLE.......95% of complaints are a result of people not reading their contracts....YOU MUST READ THE FINE PRINT.....you would if it you had your car repaired, bought a car or a house wouldn't you ???????

insurance coverage is always an isue facing moving company's....(for customer satisfaction purposes only)

MAKE NO MISTAKE.....

if you as a customer do not chose to take FULL_COVERAGE_INSURANCE on your move(in order to save a few dollars), you will most assuradly not be re-imbursed for total amount of damages to property during your move....the nominal amount is usually around 60% of damages and it is usually at the companies discression as to whether or not the item(s) will actually be replaced or repaired....which ever is cheaper.

certain items are never included in coverage for different reasons.

EG.

IKEA or IKEA-LIKE

furniture is sold to customers in box for a reason...most customers will open the box, build the unit, but won't dismantle it for the move, but often complain when these items do not fair well during the move, these items are made of inexpensive materials and are prone to scratching, chipping or even total collaps. any glass which does not have a wooden frame, aint gonna be covered (if you pack the glass in cardboard or some other fasion yourself...still aint gonna be cover by the companies insurace, TV's, Stereo's or electronic equipment in general, usually not covered.....people have to remember to read their contracts in full and have any items not understood explained to you...BEFORE YOU SIGN !!!! Once you sign the contract....YOU ARE BOUND BY IT'S TERMS !!!!!!

remember folks...it's all about caviat-emptor(let the buyer beware).

I'm hoping that this explanation is a helpfull to you in your endeavors to have a successfull move...without surprises !!!!!

First of all the business is not located at this address as stated on their complaint form

I contracted with this company for a 3/3/07. I called Victor 3 weeks before.

When the movers arrived, the driver informed me that he was a contract worker for all pro.

He came with 2 men who were obviousley day laborers and not professional movers.

He wanted to charge me 15 dollars to box my 3 televisions. I had used this company twice before and was not charged for boxes. My husband ended up having to transport the televisions.

They damaged my entertainmen center tearing off the legs. They scratched my hardwood floor and was nable to get my couch in the room I wanted it in. I was given a handwritten receipt on a scratch piece of paper.

I faxed a complaint form to Victor on 3/6/07. I did not hear from anyone for 3 weeks. At which time I spoke to a Mr. Ramsey who said that Victor never gave him my form and that in fact Victor was not suppose t ohandle complaints. I also spoke to a Johnathan who assured me I would be taken care of. That was 2 weeks ago. I have called everyday to follow up but

Victor says that Mr. Ramsey is handling everything but he is never available.

I would like some resolution to this situation. This companyhas been untruthul and deceptive.

Wheaton Van Lines/EMC Movers

To Whom It May Concern:

We are writing to complain about the $1427 in damages to our furniture which was caused by Wheaton Van Lines during our move from Moraga, CA to Nazareth PA and Wheaton's refusal to reimburse us for these damages. The damages were a direct result of poor handling of the furniture by Wheaton's inexperienced crew during loading and unloading, and the company's lack of planning to allow adequate time for the loading and unloading operations.

Wheaton's Indianapolis headquarters then invented an unsupportable reason as to why they refused our damage claim. Wheaton said that because the damaged furniture was put into an self storage unit the claim was nulified and a "brochure" had outlined their position. After filing out claim, we have asked for a copy of the brochure and it has not been provided.

Wheaton' sales agent knew of and approved of the plan to put the furniture in storage, provided no "brochure", and signed us up for the "Full (Replacement) Value Protection with no deductable.

All damages were inspected and verified by Wheaton's inspector so there is no dispute as to the physical damages which were clearly related to the move and not the result of storage conditions.

Delivery to a self storge unit should not be a reason to negate Wheaton's liability no more than delivery to a home, in fact the furniture is far safer in a storage unit than in a home where damage could occur after delivery. Wheaton's agent, and all invloved in the move, were fully aware of the planned delivery to a self storage unit. There was no notification that this delivery would affect the company's liability.

Damage occurred due to Wheaton's handling of the items in questions upon loading, transportation, and unloading. The unloading was seriously mishandled and unprofessional. The crew, with the exception of the lone driver was totally inexperienced and incompetent and brought in from a temporary job agency. The driver was on the verge of firing several of the employees several times during the day and night. Wheaton created a situation where damage was bound to occur and checking the condition of the items was highly impractical, if not impossible, as the loading and unloading dragged late into the dark night.

After spending nearly $14,000 for our move with Wheaton and being treated so poorly, we strongly suggest that anyone planning a move not to consider Wheaton Van Lines.

Sincerely,

Donald T. McIntyre

Comment On This

I wonder if this damage was seen by the shipper at time of delivery into the Storage Warehouse. Because if it was seen at time of delivery, and damage was noted on the inventory sheet, the shipper has a valid claim. But on the other hand, if the damage was noted by the shipper after it had been moved from Storage to residence, the claim would then be invalid. Why? Its simple, it could have been damaged by those who moved it out of the Storage Warehouse into residence. Who's to say, that the husband and a couple of buddies did'nt use their pickups to move the items, and caused the damage themselves.

Shippers if your possesions go into a mini storage or like facility, make a note on the inventory of the damage at that time.

Service complaint against "Gati Movers and Packers"

Service complaint against "Gati Movers and Packers"

Service complaint against "Gati Movers and Packers"

Hi

I would like to bring to your notice the kind of service that I have been

given to me by one of the SuperBrand India 2006-2007, "Gati Movers and Packers".

I along with a friend of mine made a cargo delivery from Bangalore to Pune with Gati Movers and Packers on the date of 23

Septmeber,2006; docket number 410276842.

I chose this brand despite its high cost because of their reputation and name but I was proven wrong here.

To my utter shock and dismay the cargo wasnt even delivered to me, rather the staff of Gati

chose to deliver it in the hotel lobby (i was staying in the hotel for a period of 15 days when I moved to Pune). My friend's bike was left on the road without the lock, it was

told to me later by the hotel staff that they pushed the bike to the

basement parking.

Nobody bothered to take the Proof of Delivery from the authorized person(my friend) rather the staff pulled it off by taking the signoff from the hotel receptionist/manager.

To make things even worse the some of the cargo was missing and some of it was

damaged. The list of things include-

1) A big bag which was ripped apart and from where my stuff was stolen

2) 4 pairs of shoes

3) 2 sweaters

4) 3 suits(ladies)

In all i have lost somewhere to the tune of Rs.5000.

The course of action followed by me on finding the same was...

a) Register a complaint on Gati's website, till date which goes without a

response from a single person.

b) Call up the concerned person in Bangalore who had taken the delivery from

me. Mr Rajo 9845345273. This person had provided me another set of number,

supposedly from Pune. After repeatedly trying at those numbers over the

weekend, finally I had to give up and ask him for some managers number in

Pune.

c) He told me to call up the next day, as there was some problem in

Bangalore, saying I needed to call him between 3-4 p.m. On calling him up he at first was adamant that he couldnt help me in the matter.

Finally after much haggling he gave me a set of numbers and the email id Email User The mail to this id and the id of the top bosses of Gati goes unresponded to this day. The mail is attached for your reference.

d) On calling up the Pune office, i was given yet another number, this time

for the concerned person who had made the delivery in Pune. He took no onus

or responsibility for the damaged goods or the service. He gave me yet

another number this time for a call center for Gati.

e) Calling up the call center people I was told that I needed to raise the

complaint within 48 hours, which I had in the form of the

complaint raised on the website as well talking to the concerned person in

Bangalore.

f) The call center operative has assured me that she would get back to me

with some information, but that too has not happened. I am deeply dissappointed with the way GATI has fleeced innocent customers.

I have been forced to take this extreme step of writing to you because I

have lost enough money and patience in dealing with the numerous people in

this organization. I hope that atleast this action would coerce someone to

take notice to my plight.

I hope that this time I am met with some justice. If my plea has fallen on deaf ears time and again in this case i m not sure whether this action would yield any result but yes hope is the last survival.

Bekins Moving and Storage Company, Santa Barbara, California. DO NOT USE THEM!! I am a single woman, senior citizen, who had this company pack and move me from Montecito to Oxnard, California. I had no one to help me, so was alone when the movers packed my belongings and put them into a truck. Not only did they not completely move all my stuff, because the representative did not specify a large enough truck to accomodate my things, but they stole several boxes of my belongings, including new bed linens, dishes and collectibles, kitchen items, etc. I only discovered the missing items when I unpacked several weeks later. They did not inventory items and did not number boxes, so I had no idea of the total number of boxes I should have. When I tried to contact the company later, they did not return my phone calls and I never did get any resolution or reimbursement from them. I would never use this company again, and would strongly advise others to use caution when dealing with them!!!

Our move was in May '06. We were leaving a small 2BR apartment in West Chester, PA for a 2BR townhome a few minutes up the road. The company sent two incompetent movers who seemed more focused on chatting and getting a tip than moving our furniture. They chipped almost all of our furniture, scraped the walls & woodwork or both our old & new home, and went over the estimated time of 4 hours by an hour. I would strongly advise anyone to NOT use this company. We felt we would have done a better job ourselves.

Right Movers

the right move / furniture movers

We found ‘The Right Move’ moving company online to help us with our move from manhattan, new york to white plains, Westchester county. We were quoted an estimate of $450 for the whole move. The actual movers were friendly and professional and although they tried to delay everything to get more money from the hourly rate we were paying, everything seemed to be going ok..

We had packed everything in boxes and bags to minimize the amount of time taken up during the move. However, when the movers arrived, they wrapped everything up, put our bags in boxes, cushions in boxes, everything had to go in a box. I thought nothing of it and thought they were just being professional – that was until I was presented with the bill upon arrival at White Plains. For the use of eight cardboard boxes, ‘rent’ of covers, and the sticky tape they had wound round everything repeatedly, we were charge over $350…! So we went from paying an estimated $400 to $800 just because of the outlandish, rip off prices they charge for their packing materials.

I would never use this company again as they are clearly a bunch of criminals.

They moved us from Dallas to Alpine, promising all sorts of services - but delivered on none of the promises. They destroyed an expensive Sony 60" television set and are refusing to replace it. They said that we should have purchased additional insurance. We would have - had it been offered to us.

Be ware of these guys. They are masquerading as movers when in fact, in my opinion, they are scam artists.

Lily, our CS, stated verbally that the deposit was to be verified and held until moving day, it was instead cashed immediately. The moving company then did not arrive during our contracted window of time of either the 17th or 18th of August. Spoke with Jay, Eli and Joe (after repeated calls to get a hold of someone - NO ONE CALLED ME to discuss the non-arrival) and was told reason for delay was "I don't know." I was told nothing would be done to complete contract. Joe refused to create and send a new order for service or a new arrival date, despite the DOT laws regarding movers. Joe stateddidn't know when the movers would arrive, ignoring our contract. I stated this was unacceptable as the lease was out on my house, the roof was being torn off and it was unlivable, and I had a job to beginning on a established date. Joe and Eli were both extremely rude and uncaring. I was told tough luck and then no calls were returned or answered. 48 hours passed without any communication from this moving company. This resulted in extra expenses and having to hire a new moving company at the last minute in order to complete my move as scheduled.

DO NOT USE EDEN RELOCATIONS. THEY ARE COMPLETELY UNPROFESSIONAL AND USE ILLEGALLY LOADED TRUCKS.

I contacted Eden Relocation three weeks out to move my household goods from Tennessee to Arizona. I paid a deposit and we scheduled a pick up for August 22. The day before the pick up, they called to they could not make it on Friday and would have to reschedule to August 23. I said that would be OK. On Saturday, August 23, I got one call from the driver in the morning saying that they were 75 miles out. Four hours later, the truck still had not shown up. I called them and spoke to someone who told me that the truck was being detained by the Highway Patrol for being illegally loaded. He said taht he could not tell me anything else. Two days later, i still had not heard anything from them. I called their office, and no one in the office was even aware that their truck had been stopped and did not make the pick up. They then told me that the person that plans pick ups will be out of the office for at least a week and they would not even be able to plan a pick up until he returns. I am left completely having to change my moving plans, housing plans, utilities shut off dates, etc.

I had a similar horrible experience with super india packers and movers (SIPM) bangalore.

People who are looking for a packer and mover, just beware of SIPM (SUPER INDIA PACKERS AND MOVERS). I am
a victim of this packers. I was referred by one of my friend, and I gave them the contract to move from Delhi to Bangalore. I reached bangalore and wait for another 15 day to receive my luggage. They have promised for 1 week, but after 15 days they were not confirming when they will send my luggage. After 20 days, I finally received half of luggage that too in a very bad condition. All my furniture were broken. After another 20 days I got my rest of the items and the condition was even worse. The employees of this packer were saying to me, "How can you be so fool to hire this packers". They told me, they never transfer the luggage in a good condition. This was my blunder to trust on this, but I searched on net for a feedback on them but none was there.

This is my 6th month after receiving my goods but after complaining 100 times to that, still they haven’t replaced or repaired the damaged item.
I request you people to beware of them and don’t become their victim.

Agarwal packers and movers...be careful

Agarwal packers and movers...be careful
By: debashis2912 | Jun 29, 2007 12:57 PM

Pros:
reasonably good packing compared to a lot of others
Cons:
they do not care about condition of items or claims

I moved my household things from Delhi to Mumbai. I used the services of Agarwal Packers and Movers.

On the day of packing their packers decended on my house like a pack
of wolves. They demanded newspaper from me to pack my expensive china ware. They kept packing without stopping to ask or listen to anything that I told them.

After they packed they just stacked the stuff in any odd way. The signs os ‘this side up’ etc. was totally ignored. When they delivered at Mumbai, their attitude was little better than airport baggage handlers. What they were experts at was hiding the things they had broken.

They then made me sign papers in a hurry and left.

While unpacking I found that three of my very expensive China ware was smashed to pieces, due to very bad packing. I had told the packers that the packing within the plastic boxes was not adequately done as there was movement within the box, but they would not listen.

I also found a day later that my computer table was very badly damaged and being made of particle board and MDF, cannot be repaired. This was obviously due to the fact that the loaders/ unloaders do not pay any attention to the way they stack packages. I had pointed this out to them when they were loading the truck in delhi and also when they were unloading, when they kept stacking boxes on other boxes containing fragile items. I had also told them to dismantle the table as it was likely to break, but they did not listen. Similarly the wheels of my radiator are completely smashed. Again I has told them to dismantle these but they assured me that nothing would happen.

Ofcourse once you have signed the papers, they care a damn about all your complaints. They just ignore you when you complain.

Agarwal Packers -- count everything in a Part Load

Agarwal Packers -- count everything in a Part Load
By: ujwalasam | Jul 14, 2007 09:50 PM

Pros:
Good packing -- nothing broke and delivery was prompt
Cons:
honesty is not a company policy

I recently used Aggarwal packers to move my stuff from Bangalore to Pune. I was pleasantly surprised at the good packing (yes -- it was really careful and safe) and reasonable cost, but my joy was short-lived.
Since we used a Part Load, our stuff was unloaded in Pune before the truck carried someone elses’s things to Mumbai. We were tired and groggy and no one thought of ticking things off on the list as we unloaded, we just kept a count orally as the guys relentlessly unloaded package after package into our tiny flat -- and obviously not correctly since one box containing bedlinen etc. one old but sturdy bookshelf and one skateboard, were not unloaded. When we realised our mistake a day later (and admitted, it was our mistake ) I phoned Mukesh Aggarwal to check with the people in Mumbai if they had our stuff. I was told that these people had ’’gone abroad for a long time’’! How convenient. Of course, I was told this after being berated for not counting ’’each and everything’’ etc. etc. and naturally there was not a whisper of an apology, let alone any offer to do something about the situation. I persisted for a day or two in trying to track my stuff, but gave up then. Either the moving staff or someone in Mumbai is using my bookshelf, sleeping in my quilts and skating around on my son’s skateboard. When we did our shifting abroad, even a shoebox left nehind would be returned, even after a few weeks. Everone keeps saying ’’Oh, you can’t compare!’’ My question is why not?? Isn’t basic honesty part of our Great Indian Culture any longer??I guess we’re just a basically dishonest, ’’grab-what-you can’’ kind of people.

Agarwal Packers Movers : Tried Twice..Feeling Happy & Wise!!!!

Tried Twice..Feeling Happy & Wise!!!!
By: Chintu25 | Aug 01, 2007 04:38 PM (Updated Aug 02, 2007 05:49 PM)

Pros:
Professionalism, Stick to Timelines...Good packing
Cons:
You have to be cautious with the oversmart supervisors

My father has been in a transferable job so it’s been quite often that we have packed our bags and moved around. Largely we used to employ any local Mover & Packers. After reaching our new location
my Dad was always on tenterhooks until our trucks arrived. In those times people were not having the luxury of mobile phones so tracing the truck was next to impossible and we used to wait n watch the arrival of our precious household items.

But last time when my parents were shifting from Jamnagar to Delhi the rates quoted by these local Packers & movers were exorbitant and we were sure that the quality would not be at par. The difficulties being faced by my parents forced me to do some research and I chanced upon Agarwal Packers & Movers.

Though these people didn’t have a branch in Jamnagar they very readily agreed for the consignment. The rates quoted by them were very competitive and on the D-Day these people came dot on Time. What happened post their arrival is worth a mention.

Previously whenever we had packed we were supposed to provide the packing material. But in this case these people came equipped with all the packing material like cartons, Plastic sheets, hard brown sheet, tapes and everything that was needed. The packing started at around 9:30 AM and it was worth a watch. These people started packing with beautiful speed and professionalism. Their instructions for us were very clear, they said to my mom (she was trying to help) ‘M’am please sit down just tell us which stuff where and we will do everything, you need not do anything’. Not a single item was damaged in the process. My Mom’s precious crockery was also very safe.

The best packing was of the glass top of our six seater dining table it was covered with bubble packing, brown paper(hard) & cellophane paper the packing was handled with outmost care. The Truck was packed and sealed by 4:30 PM. According to me this was a major accomplishment, as my parents have loads of saman. After all theirs is a 25+ yrs grihasti & both of them have always been very indulgent in buying stuffs.

We had even transported our car along with the rest of the stuff. They used a container truck to move the material. The material reached Delhi as per the schedule and without any kind loss and mental stress to my father. Everything was then (As we wanted) unpacked and kept properly. They even hanged the curtains for my Mom. The overall experience was excellent.

So when I was shifting from Ahmedabad to Mumbai the decision for me to choose the P&M was very clear and even I had an excellent experience with them.

I would like to highlight some Good & Bad features of Agarwal Packers & Mover’s

Good Points
- Highly Professional people
- Their packing is excellent and as far as my experience is concerned there was zero damage.
- With the proper call centers in place it is very easy to track your consignment.
- You don’t have to worry about anything, just call them and you can sit silently and see them finishing off the packing in no time.
- When I was shifting I had to vacate my home on a specific date but there was a gap of 15 days for getting occupancy of my new house. For those 15 days they kept my stuff in their warehouse and the charges were nil for 1st 10 days and for rest 5 days it was Rs 100 per day which was not only very reasonable but God Sent for me. This is a feature which I think no other P&M provide. I had enquired at other places and everybody was charging 200/- per day. And when I had the stuff delivered at my new place I called them one day before the shifting and Bingo they were there right on time.
- The people who come for packing are usually thorough professionals and in our case they didn’t go for lunch break also, one of their own person cooked everything there only. This point is relevant because usually laborers waste time through this excuse.
- They keep up with the time lines they say.
- The response time from getting a quotation to packing, moving and unpacking is very good.
- They have a pan India presence.
- In cases where the company bears the cost of transfer, the employee is supposed to supply three competitive quotes. Agarwal P& M provides all 3 quotes along with their lowest quote. It might seem quite unethical to few but for me it saved my precious time.
- In few words they are value for money.

Now some of the downfalls
- The rates are quite high. A middle class man can afford them only if the company is bearing the cost of transfer otherwise if you have to pay from your pocket then it’s quite costly.
-You have to be very cautious with some of the professionals. In my case when my stuff was being delivered this guy (their supervisor) started giving some gyan to me. Gyan as in I was supposed to pay 500 Rs for keeping my saman in the warehouse but this guy was saying I have to pay for 7 days as he was counting my saman to be in warehouse from the day it was packed. And he wanted the money in cash not as cheque. Anybody can guess what he was trying. What I did was that I called up the Agarwal P & M Employee and everything was then straitened. So we just have to a bit extra cautious.
My purpose of writing this review was very simple. I was going through all the negative reviews for the said Packers & Movers so I thought that since I had a very good experience with them not once but twice then why shouldn’t I share it with everybody. I can Vouch for them (and so can many of my fellow colleagues) that they are the best right now and the speed & professionalism with which they work is commendable. I can say this because we have used other Packer & Movers also and seen the difference. In today’s time when time is a major constraint for maximum of us these people come as saving grace.

So next time you are shifting don’t go by all the negative reviews these people are worth a try.

rohitthebest said:

you are right about the price.
No doubt they are a bit costly in comparison to others but the way they handle the things is awesome too.
I’ve used alliance for my last three shiftings, Delhi to Hyd to Hyd Local to Mumbai.
And I am glad that we now have these kind of professional services in india too.
They were too good to handle and I loved tipping them extra after seeing that they did the packing damn good.
Not even a single glass was broken in any of our shiftings.

Agarwal’s are the best I guess and I like the way they pack all the things in those plastic boxes now a days - they are almost air tight.
Although I dont trust them on one thing - that you should not handover the car to them for transfer - as my friends car was 400kms over ridden when it reached us last time and had some scratches too.
Anyways - they are good no doubt about that.

Agarwal packers and movers -- a nightmare!!!

Agarwal packers and movers -- a nightmare!!!
By: lko2uk | Aug 08, 2007 01:50 PM

Pros:
Nothing
Cons:
Everything

I used their services to move from Lucknow to the UK simply because there were very few alternatives in Lucknow and everybody told me that Agarwal are the best. I don’t know how they have managed
to create this hype around themselves. They were my worst nightmare come true. They did not want to come over to my house to give a quote and gave me a quote on the phone but couldn’t explain the break-up which I had to get by calling up their Delhi number. On D-day they failed to turn up at the agreed 12 noon. Since I had to vacate my house at 5 pm, I kept on calling them and each time they lied saying that the men are on the way and their vehicle must have broken down. Finally at 6 pm a band of boys arrived.

Now these were some sub-contractors (and not Agarwal’s employees) who couldn’t even speak hindi (they were south indian boys) and communicated to us mostly in sign language. They ’said’ that they were instructed to come only a few minutes back as they were packing elsewhere till then! Finally these amateurs got down to the job and soon started arguing and fighting among themselves as there was no leader among them to give instructions! They started dumping glass cutlery into their boxes till we requested them to atleast wrap the stuff in newspapers (forget bubble wrap) which we had to then provide. Then they made a farce about counting each item for packing as per their rules.

They wanted to count each book they packed but it emerged (and I am not making this up I swear) that they could not count beyond ten or fifteen. Being an academician, I obvioiusly had more than ten books to pack, so we had to do the counting for them and since things were getting slowed down, we did most of the packing as well (while at the same time appealing to them to stop fighting with each other)!! They then wrote down the number of items on each box and made me seal and sign (wow!). Finally they finished late in the evening and my employers were kind enough to let me have the house till then. While leaving they asked me to sign on a bill stating that so much kilograms of stuff is being moved, based on which I would have to pay.

When I asked how did they arrive at the weight as they did not have any weighing machine, they said (I swear again that this is true!) they can make out the weight by lifting the stuff with their hands!!! I refused to buy that argument and called up their Delhi office and agreed with them to weigh the goods at their Gurgaon godown myself before paying. Off I went to Gurgaon to get the stuff weighed and finally I left for UK praying that the stuff reaches me. After 2 weeks (since I paid for the stuff to be flown to UK) it arrived where it was simply dumped at my building entrance and I had to carry it upstairs by myself. Forget the stuff that was broken and lost (other reviewers have already written about that) I found that they had redistributed all my stuff into smaller boxes on their own (including the books) which means that all the tall talk of counting the number of items (wasting hours in the process) had been a farce! In sum, after this entire experience, my advise is please stay away from this so-called best packers in India.

Wiser after this, my wife (who joined me a bit later from a different location) employed some smaller and cheaper company during her move and it was much smoother. I don’t want to mention the name of this nicer company as it would appear as a promotion in their favour and against Agarwal. But trust me if you can -- stay away from this company. Don’t say later that you weren’t warned!!!

Well nicely written about the experience you faced.

I think it is all luck. I had shifted from Pune to Bangalore using Packers XYZ, and i just was impressed. The packers did a terrific job.
So, when moving back from Bangalore to Pune, I opted for the same packers XYZ, and i was so shocked at the way they did the job... a total nightmare... So, i concluded that all packers are similar... and it is our luck that makes it good or bad...

Thanks folks for reading my review and commenting. You are right -- it does depend on luck as the kind of staff and sub-contractors employed by a company varies from location to location. In case of Agarwal, their Delhi head office is as inefficient as the local henchmen, leaving you at your wit’s end! Anyway, thanks to websites like mouthshut, we can share our experiences and in this way hopefully we the consumers can force companies to clean up their acts.

I have used them three times and all three times were faultless. But then I guess it all depends on how good or bad their local offices are . In my cases all moves were within south India- but having dealt with the guys in all four southern states I dont have anything to complain about any one of them.
